Eclipse Energy Issue Warning About Rogue Traders in Winter

Halifax based energy efficient home improvement specialists, Eclipse Energy, have warned homeowners in Calderdale of the risks of rogue traders, in light of new government home improvement schemes. If you’re looking for Halifax insulation grants, then do read ahead.

Eclipse have worked across West Yorkshire installing energy efficient measures in homes, both domestically and as part of large government contracts. They are the main sponsor of Halifax Rugby League, and won the 2019 Halifax Courier Sustainable Business of the Year Award. In recent months they have emerged as one of Yorkshire’s leading businesses in the government’s Green Homes Grant scheme, which allows homeowners and landlords across the UK to access up to £10,000 of funding for energy efficiency improvements such as insulation.

The company have installed hundreds of measures across Calderdale. They recently announced an initiative in partnership with the local authority. Installing up to 200 Room in Roof insulation measures in qualifying homes in the area.

As the demand to upgrade existing homes has risen, the team at Eclipse have regularly been called out to remedy issues in numerous properties. This included poorly installed insulation which has led to an increase in damp and mould.

Managing Director, Mark Bannister, commented “With families becoming more conscious of their energy bills and carbon footprint. Home improvement measures like insulation are becoming increasingly popular as homeowners upgrade their existing properties. As a result of this, a lot of companies have cropped up delivering substandard work or extortionate prices to the people of West Yorkshire”.

“We recently had to visit a property in Beeston that required a complete conservatory roof replacement. This was because of substandard work, wasting the customer thousands of pounds. At a time when finance are tight for many families this isn’t acceptable”.

Mr Bannister encourages homeowners looking at property upgrades to check companies for accreditations to determine their validity.

“If you are looking at securing a Green Homes Grant, you must do this through a Trustmark accredited organisation. For other works we always advise customers to use services like Checkatrade. Eclipse Energy are members of Checkatrade, where you can see reviews from previous installations. Taking a bit of time to research your installer could save you thousands of pounds in the future.”
