Eclipse Energy, approved contractor for the Calderdale Energy Efficiency Fund

Here at Eclipse Energy, we are very excited to announce that we are one of Calderdale Council’s approved contractors to carry out work under the new Calderdale Energy Efficiency Fund.

If you qualify for the fund to have home energy efficiency works undertaken you may have one of Eclipse Energy’s own home energy experts coming out to your home to undertake the work. Meaning you can rest assured any works will be done to the highest possible standard.

The scheme is available now to apply. However, this is only until 31st March 2024, or if funding runs out – whichever is sooner.

Consequently, make sure to apply as soon as possible to ensure you don’t miss out.

What is the Calderdale Energy Efficiency Fund?

The Calderdale Energy Efficiency Fund is a new scheme launched by Calderdale Council’s Health Homes Service. The fund has been set up to help owner occupiers and tenants in privately rented properties make their homes warmer, more comfortable, and cheaper to heat.

Firstly, having a more energy efficient home will help to lower your energy bills. However, it also offers other benefits including improved comfort, reduced carbon emissions. But, most importantly improved health.

Works in the scheme can only be carried out by Calderdale Council’s approved contractors such as Eclipse Energy.

What work can be completed under the scheme?

The scheme offers a number of services, including those listed below:

Available to Owner Occupiers

  • Boiler safety check up to £750. (One only)
  • Small boiler repair, up to £750. (One only)
  • £750 towards a new boiler if the current boiler cannot be repaired.
  • Standard loft insulation: virgin lofts and loft top ups for anything <100mm (up to £2000 and EPC D – G). 
  • PAS 2035 loft insulation: virgin lofts and loft top ups for anything <100mm (up to £2000 and EPC D – G).
  • PAS 2035 Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI) – fiber or polybead (up to £2500 and EPC D – G).  Brick built only.
  • Boiler heating controls (thermostat and timer)
  • Temporary heaters (if boiler breaks down)

Available to Private Tenants Only (Landlord financial contribution required)

Funding does not cover costs of enabling works – or retrofit assessment costs.

Do I qualify for the Calderdale Energy Efficiency Fund?

Check the list below to see if you may qualify for the fund for energy efficiency home improvements:

Owner Occupiers

  • Gross have a household income of up to £35k per year, including any income related benefits, plus savings of up to £6,000.
    OR
  • In receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit (listed below), plus savings of up to £6,000.

Private Tenants

  • Landlord written permission required plus 1/3 contribution toward the cost. 
  • EPC banding D – E only. 
  • Household income up to £35k per year, including any income related benefits, plus savings of up to £6,000.
    OR
  • In receipt of a qualifying means tested benefit (listed below), plus savings of up to £6,000.

  • Council Tax Reduction (Not single person occupancy discount)
  • Housing Benefit
  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Pension Credit Guarantee
  • Social Fund (Sure Start Maternity Grant, Funeral Payment)
  • Tax Credits (Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit)
  • Universal Credit (with health and finance related elements)

But hurry as the funding is only available until 31st March 2024. However, if funding runs out then applications will close. Don’t delay!
