The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) grant scheme is designed to help households reduce their carbon footprint and save money on their energy bills. By making energy-efficient improvements to their homes, households can significantly reduce the amount of energy they use and, in turn, reduce their carbon emissions and energy bills.
But what does that mean?
It means you could get free insulation installed in your home such as:
- Loft Insulation
- Floor Insulation
- Room in Roof Insulation
- Internal Wall Insulation
- External Wall Insulation
You could also get installed for free:
- First Time Central Heating
- Air Source Heat Pumps
- Solar Panels
In some houses it is possible to receive 4 or 5 of these services under the ECO4 grant scheme.
But how do I know if I qualify for this free ECO4 grant?
Well firstly, the property you live in has to have poor energy efficiency. So people who live in houses with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of an E or lower.
Secondly, you need to have a household income of less than £31,000 or be in receipt of Government benefits such as:
- Pension Credit
- Housing Benefit
- Income Based ESA
- Universal Credit
- Income Support
- Jobseekers Allowance
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
Do I need to own my own home for the ECO4 grant scheme?
No you don’t need to own your home. If you are a tenant, and renting your house, you just need permission from your Landlord.
