Eclipse Energy Pledge to Create High Skilled Jobs in Calderdale

Halifax based energy efficient home improvement specialists, Eclipse Energy, have pledged to fund the training of several high skilled retrofit jobs in the Calderdale area.

Eclipse have worked across West Yorkshire installing energy efficient measures in homes. This is with both domestically and as part of large government contracts. They are the main sponsor of Halifax Rugby League, and won the 2019 Halifax Courier Sustainable Business of the Year Award. In recent months they have emerged as one of Yorkshire’s leading businesses. In particular with the government’s Green Homes Grant scheme. Allowing homeowners and landlords across the UK to access up to £10,000 of funding for energy efficiency improvements. This includes measures such as insulation.

Retrofit Assessors

The company have pledged to fund the training of Retrofit Assessors. This is a specialist qualification for the energy retrofit of domestic buildings. These assessors are set to play a vital role in the future. In particular, as the government upgrades homes across the country to hit the global emissions targets of 2035.

Mark Bannister, Managing Director of Eclipse Energy, commented “Looking to the future, it’s apparent how important jobs like this will be. It’s impossible to hit our national emissions targets without updating existing properties. Retrofit Assessors will be vital in achieving these goals.”

“Schemes like the Green Homes Grant are creating a significant amount of jobs in the trades sector. However, we need highly skilled assessors to determine exactly what measures homes need. In particular, to make the biggest impact in reducing energy bills and carbon emissions”.

In addition to funding the training of assessors, Eclipse have guaranteed full-time or part-time employment to anyone who chooses to train as an assessor.

“We have been overwhelmed by the demand for the Green Homes Grant Schem. With almost 1000 individuals across West Yorkshire getting in touch with us” added Mark. “With the people of Calderdale putting so much faith in us to improve their homes, we want to return the favour and invest into creating new jobs locally”.
