A Calderdale resident is feeling the difference after receiving FREE attic insulation. He received it through a scheme that aims to tackle fuel poverty and carbon emissions through insulation funding
The project is being delivered by Calderdale Council in partnership with Eclipse Energy and Better Homes Yorkshire. It is funded by the Government’s Green Homes Grant and Local Authority Delivery scheme. Ultimately, the scheme aims to offers home energy improvements across the area.
Michael, a resident living in Halifax, enquired about the work after receiving a flyer through his door.
Speaking about his experience, Michael said: “I was a bit dubious of the scheme at first. Because I didn’t want to spend any money on the work. Thankfully I didn’t have to!”
“The insulation has made a vast improvement to my attic – you can really feel the difference in temperature.”
“The work lasted no more than three weeks, and I had a really good set of lads doing the insulation for me. They were wonderful and worked so well together. I had no complaints.”
Michael also expressed that the insulation has helped deaden the sound from the attic – which is ideal as he uses it as his man-cave!
How Can I Qualify for Insulation Funding?
To qualify for this kind of work, households will need to have a total combined income of less than £30K or be in receipt of some form of government benefit (such as pension credit, child benefit, child tax credit or universal credit).
Work is subject to surveys and proof of eligibility. To be eligible for insulation, attic rooms must have a window and be accessed by a permanent staircase. The scheme ends in March 2023 but funding is allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.
